Anti-Corrosion, Thermal Insulating Protective Coatings
Thermablock™ is a family of high-temperature protective and insulating coatings originally developed for the US Air Force. The USAF coating is easily applied at room temperature to titanium parts in jet engines and allows those parts to be subjected to higher temperatures.

Hollow glass microspheres enhance thermal insulation ability. For high temperature, corrosive environments, a holiday-free version without the hollow glass microspheres provides an excellent barrier coating.

In engine use, the coating must survive the aircraft shock, thermal, and vibration environments. The technology inhibits the typical problem of titanium embrittlement.

Modifications of this coating technology have been developed for passive shipboard fire protection on composite materials.

A version can be applied directly on hot pipes at 350°F and provide thermal insulation without requiring a typical equipment outage for application.

The highest temperature version will withstand temperatures in excess of 1800°F. In the presence of open flame the coating maintains its physical integrity: it does not crack, delaminate, or char. Applications for this coating include the following:
